Speaker Night 2021-02-11: Cindy Vasko – Urban Exploration

Thursday, February 11, 2021, 7 PM – 9 PM
Zoom meeting

LPC’s speaker for February 11th is Cindy Vasko.

About the speaker: “Welcome to my world and experience an environment outside of the ordinary and far removed from daily life experiences. Although I am a photographer of many genres, including landscape, event, concert, and architecture, my photographic passion rests within the classification of urban exploration, also known as abandoned site exploration.

“I was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and reside in the Washington D.C. metropolitan bounds of Arlington, Virginia. In 2009, music was the catalyst that prompted a reawakening of my photography journey. For more than four years, I interviewed musicians, wrote articles, and photographed concerts for a music magazine. In 2012, I had a visceral reaction to an urban exploration photograph of an abandoned asylum that caused an immediate shift in the motion of my photographic endeavors. My love of history, research, and writing compliment my urban exploration photography track. I am the author and photographer of thirteen books (nine completed) about urban exploration, published by Fonthill Media. Several of my images, especially my urban exploration works, were recipients of prestigious photography awards along with my works featured at gallery exhibitions in New York City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Paris, France’s Louvre Museum.”
