Theme Description: Photo where the main subject is one or more common household items.

Judge: Steve Gottlieb

Thousands of Steve’s images of people, architecture and landscapes have appeared worldwide in advertisements, Tannual reports, brochures and publications such as Smithsonian, Popular Photography, American Photo, and the New York Times. Gottlieb is the photographer/author of five critically acclaimed books, including:

Abandoned America “Best in Show” at the Chicago Book Fair. “Gift Book of the Year”, PEOPLE and USA Today.
American Icons “A classic, filled with beautiful images…moving and poignant.” Library Journal.
Washington: Portrait of a City “Gifted photographer and author Steve Gottlieb has produced another inspiring book.” Shutterbug magazine. “Gottlieb brings the same qualities to his photography that brought him success in ten years of legal practice—intelligence, discipline, precision, skill.” Washingtonian magazine.
In 2005, Gottlieb founded Horizon Photography Workshops, which American Photo magazine selected as one of the “12 Awesome Travel Workshops in the United States.” He has led more than 100 workshops in the US and overseas.

A graduate of Columbia University’s College and Law School, Gottlieb practiced law in private firms and the federal government for ten years before turning his photography hobby into his vocation. A competitive tennis player, he has held many rankings over the decades, including (in 2018) the #1 Doubles Player in the United States in his age division. Father of two sons, Gottlieb divides his time between New York City and the Hudson Valley.
